Masked men walked into one of the victims’ offices, shot the two men and fled.
Two Bharatiya Janata Party leaders were shot dead in Bharuch, Gujarat, on Monday evening after a party meeting. Shirish Bangali was former president of the Bharuch district unit of the BJP, while Pragnesh Mistry was general secretary of the BJP’s youth wing in the state.
Police said the two were returning after a party meeting and were in Bangali’s office when two people rode up on a bike. One walked into their office and fired three shots before fleeing. Both the partymen were taken to a private hospital, but were declared dead.
Deputy inspector of police of Vadodara AS Gehlot told Hindustan Times that three committees headed by the deputy superintended of police have been formed to investigate the case. The incident comes weeks before local body polls which are scheduled from November 22 onwards.
