Underworld gangster Chhota Rajan’s deportation to India from Indonesia has been pushed to Wednesday after a volcanic eruption at Mount Rinjani near Bali shut down the local airport due to presence of volcanic ash in the atmosphere, reported The Indian Express.

Rajan, who was captured last week in Bali, was supposed to be deported to India on Tuesday evening after the Indonesian police gave the clearance to Indian officials. A team comprising officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Delhi and Mumbai Police had arrived in Bali on Sunday to take custody of Rajan and fly him to India, where he faces over 70 criminal charges.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Mumbai Police said it had made all the necessary arrangements for the safe custody of the 55-year-old gangster.
