After Islamic State released a video threatening New York City, a new propaganda video was put out on Thursday threatening to attack parts of the European Union and the White House. The six-minute video mentioned Italy and France, and also lauded the attacks in Paris last week which killed 129 people. Italy responded to the threats by increasing security in the country, including around Rome and the Vatican. CNN reported that the United States embassy in Rome is warning Americans who are visiting Italy. Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey on Thursday said that he did not know of any credible threats of attacks in the US.

Videos released on Monday and Wednesday threatened Washington DC and New York City, as well as countries participating in attacks on Syria. The New York City police department responded to Wednesday’s video by deploying more security around the city, including members of a new anti-terrorism squad, and with a statement which said there was no current threat to the city. Islamic State militants took responsibility for the attacks in Paris last week, and recently also carried out bombings in Beirut, which killed 43 people, and bombed a Russian plane in Sinai, killing all 224 passengers.
