India thrash Pakistan 6-2 to win men's Junior Asia Cup hockey
Drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh scored four goals in a dominating performance by the Indian colts.
The Indian junior men's hockey team swept away arch-rivals Pakistan 6-2 in a commanding performance on Sunday to win the 8th Junior Asia Cup in Kuantan, Malaysia.
Considering that India and Pakistan were contesting the final, the hype in the build-up to the game was immense. However, Pakistan could hardly match up to India's superiority, with drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh being their main tormentor-in-chief. Singh scored a quartet of goals, with three of them coming before the half-time mark as India went into the break 3-1.
The misery continued for Pakistan in the second half. Arman Quresh and Manpreet Singh junior put India further in front before Singh capped off his glorious night with his fourth in the 53rd minute. Pakistan managed to claw one back in the 68th minute, but the final scoreline justifiably reflected India's dominance.
