Sheena Bora murder case: Court extends CBI custody of Peter Mukerjea
The investigative body said that the media tycoon was not fully cooperating with its inquiry.
A magistrate’s court in Mumbai on Monday extended the Central Bureau of Investigation's custody of Peter Mukerjea in the Sheena Bora case till November 26. The investigative body said that Mukerjea, Bora’s stepfather, had not been cooperating in the case. According to reports, the CBI said that Mukerjea had disclosed details of all his investments in India and abroad, but did not reveal the source of his income. A senior Mumbai police officer also said that Mukerjea and his wife Indrani Mukerjea, who is also a co-accused, approached him for help in tracing Bora’s cell phone in 2012.
The 1,800-page chargesheet filed by the CBI last week also had extracts of emails from Mukerjea to his son Rahul, who was in a relationship with Bora. The emails reportedly reveal Mukerjea telling Rahul to move on from Bora, when he questioned her sudden disappearance and alleged departure to the United States without informing him or her friends. The email extracts also revealed Rahul’s suspicions that Bora's mother Indrani Mukerjea was involved in her disappearance.
