Supreme Court bans registration of diesel SUVs in Delhi till March 31
It also ordered that all taxis in the national capital move to CNG, along with doubling the pollution surcharge.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday banned the registration of diesel vehicles above 2000 cc in Delhi till March 31. It also ordered for all taxis in the National Capital Region to move to compressed natural gas, along with doubling the environmental cess being levied on commercial vehicles entering Delhi, reported PTI.
The apex court also banned the entry of trucks which are more than 10 years old into Delhi, according to reports. It also said that all commercial vehicles, which are not Delhi-bound, will not be allowed to enter the city via entry points NH-8 and NH-1. Commercial vehicles registered before 2005 cannot enter Delhi, it said.
