Tracker sites TorrentFreak and Expicio on Sunday named Game of Thrones the most pirated TV show in the world for the fourth year running. The show's season finale was downloaded an estimated 14.4 million times, with more than half the downloads within a week of the episode airing. CNBC reported that the highest number of downloads for an episode of the show last year was 8.1 million.

The torrent sites also released data on other popular shows, placing The Walking Dead and Big Bang Theory as the second- and third-most downloaded, with Mr Robot and Supergirl entering the charts for the first time. TorrentFreak added that total piracy numbers this year were “significantly higher”.
