Golden Globes: 'The Revenant' takes Best Drama Film, Leonardo DiCaprio wins Best Actor
'The Martian won' big in the Musical or Comedy categories, bagging the Best Film prize, and its lead Matt Damon taking the Best Actor trophy.
Period film The Revenant swept top honours in the Drama category at the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, winning the awards for Best Motion Picture, Best Director Alejandro González Iñárritu and Best Actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Iñárritu won the Best Director Oscar for his film Birdman in 2014. This is DiCaprio’s third Golden Globe award. Brie Larson won the Best Actress (Drama) award for her role in Room, based on a best-selling Emma Donoghue novel.
In the Musical or Comedy categories, The Martian won the Best Motion Picture with its lead Matt Damon winning the Best Actor award, while Jennifer Lawrence triumphed for her role as a penniless single mother in Joy.
In the Television section of the awards, Mr Robot pipped Game of Thrones to win in the Drama category, while Mozart in the Jungle took the prize in the Musical or Comedy category. Stirring coming-of-age tale Inside Out won for the Best Animated Feature.
