Pakistani authorities have arrested an unspecified number of suspects related to the Pathankot attack after carrying out raids in the country, intelligence officials said on Monday. The raids were carried out in the districts of Gujranwala, Jhelum and Bahawalpur, PTI reported. "[The] probe has been going [on] to ascertain whether they were involved in the attack or [whether] some of them facilitated it," the officials said.

Following these arrests, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed the chief of the country's Intelligence Bureau to form a Joint Investigation Team to investigate the Pathankot attack. The team will comprise officials from the Intelligence Bureau, Inter-Services Intelligence and Military Intelligence, The Express Tribune reported. Sharif had earlier said that a transparent investigation will be conducted and firm action will be taken against those found involved in the attack.

Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Monday said that India will continue talks with Pakistan only when the neighbouring country takes action against those behind the Pathankot terror attacks. According to dna, Doval denied reports quoting him as saying the meeting had been called off. Indian intelligence reports have suggested that groups and people in Pakistan planned and executed the terror strike on January 2, in which seven Indian security personnel and six terrorists were killed.
