The secretary of the Delhi and District Cricket Association and former manager of the Indian cricket team, Sunil Dev alleged that the India-England Test match played in Manchester in 2014 was fixed. He was found making these allegations in a sting operation done by Hindi daily Sun Star on Sunday.

However, The Times of India reported on Monday that Dev had denied his earlier claims and was preparing to take action against the Hindi daily.

In the Sun Star video, Dev refers to the bowling-friendly conditions on the first day and claimed that the entire team was surprised when Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India's then Test captain decided to bat first. India went on to lose the game by an innings and 54 runs.

"Given the conditions of the pitch due to rain, we decided to bowl first in a team meeting but I was surprised that Dhoni opted to bat first," said Dev in the video and added that he was "100% sure" that the match was fixed.

He also stated that he had submitted a report on the same to N Srinivasan, then president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, but no action was taken. In the video of the sting operation, Dev told reporters that he did not approach any authorties on this because he feared for his life. He also added that in case he was part of an undercover sting operation, he would deny he made any of these claims.

Justice Mudgal, head of the Indian Premier League spot-fixing committee, denied Dev's claims and said that he did not have knowledge of the Test being fixed.
