Pathankot attack: Pakistan finds no evidence of JeM chief Masood Azhar’s involvement
India had said the Jaish-e-Mohammed leader was the mastermind behind the terror strikes on the Indian Air Force base in Punjab, and has not yet responded to this new claim.
A team in Pakistan appointed to investigate the attacks on the Pathankot air force base concluded that there was no substantial evidence that could pin Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Maulana Masood Azhar to the incident. India had said that based on evidence they found, they believed Azhar and the JeM to be behind the attacks. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif constituted a special investigative team to look into India’s evidence.
Indian investigators had said they had evidence including call records to show that the JeM and Azhar were involved in planning the attack. Talks between the foreign secretaries of both countries were postponed after the attacks, with India asking for action from Pakistan against terror groups that worked on its soil. Sharif had promised Pakistan’s cooperation in investigating the attack. India has not yet responded to Pakistan's report on the attacks.
