Mumbai restaurant will offer free 'Chicken Sanju Baba' to mark Sanjay Dutt’s release from jail
The actor completes his five-year sentence for illegal possession of arms on Thursday.
The Noor Mohammadi Restaurant in south Mumbai will offer its signature dish "Chicken Sanju Baba" for free on Thursday, when actor Sanjay Dutt completes his jail term and is released. Dutt was a frequent patron of the restaurant and is believed to have come up with the recipe himself.
Khalid Hakim, the restaurant’s owner said Dutt inaugurated the restaurant in 1986, and ate there regularly. The dish was invented in 2010, and the actor gave him permission to use his name to market it. It has since become one of their most popular items, The Indian Express reported.
The 56-year-old actor was sentenced to five years in jail for illegal possession of arms in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case. He has received widespread support from fans and the Bollywood fraternity despite his conviction.
