Swine flu has killed 34 people in Rajasthan this year

As many as 34 people have died of swine flu in Rajasthan this year, an official from the state's medical and health department told PTI on Monday. Of the 2,000 samples collected in the state over the last two months, 162 people tested positive for the H1N1 virus, of which 34 died, the report said. Of these 34 deaths, 15 were reported in Jaipur, four in Ajmer and two each in Bharatpur, Churu, Hanumangarh and Alwar. “Effective surveillance, monitoring and treatment of patients are the prime objectives of the state department,” the official said, adding that the department had implemented several key measures this year to prevent the spread of the virus.
