Former South African Test opener Alviro Petersen under investigation for match-fixing: Report
The 35-year-old has played 36 Tests, 21 One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals for the Proteas.
Alviro Petersen, a former South African Test opener, is the latest high-profile South African cricketer to be under investigation in the country's domestic match-fixing scandal, according to a Wisden India report. The other players under the scanner, according to the report, are former South African fast bowler Lonwabo Tsotsobe and wicket-keeper Thami Tsolekile. The three international cricketers, along with two other domestic players who are under investigation, all belong to the Highveld Lions franchise in South Africa's domestic Ram Slam Twenty20 competition.
In January, Cricket South Africa had banned former international cricketer Gulam Bodi after he admitted to attempting to fix matches in the Ram Slam. Petersen was allegedly one of the players who listened to Bodi's overtures, but then turned whistle-blower for Cricket South Africa's anti-corruption unit. There is, however, no evidence that any match in the tournament was actually fixed.
