Six teenage girls in Punjab were injured in an acid attack by two men on a motorcycle on Wednesday. One of them is reportedly in critical condition, with 18% burn injuries on her face and arms. Police officials said the 14-year-old girl was targeted after she rejected the advances of one of the assailants.
PTI reported that she told her family a 19-year-old boy, who went to the same school as her, had been stalking her, after which he and his friend reportedly attacked the girls on Wednesday. The school had earlier suspended the accused, Saajan.
Batala senior superintendent of police Daljinder Singh told Hindustan Times, “Teams have been formed to arrest the accused. We are questioning his friends. He will be arrested soon.”
