Central agencies have warned Delhi, Punjab and Assam about an ex-Pakistan army soldier who might have entered India with six terrorists on February 26.
The Delhi Police have deployed 2,500 paramilitary personnel in the city for Holi following input about a possible terror attack in hotels and hospitals in the city. According to The Indian Express, central agencies have warned Delhi, Punjab and Assam police about an ex-Pakistan army soldier who might have entered India through Punjab with six terrorists on February 26.
According to the report by the english daily, the alert said Mohammad Khurshid Alam alias Jahangir worked as a recruiter, coordinator and guide of jihadi elements in Assam. He had visited a madrasa in the state's Barpeta district in September 2015, where he stayed for five days before leaving for Chirang district bordering Bhutan. He also used a madrasa in Dhubri district as a base, where a teacher allegedly provided him logistical support. “The intention of this group is to kill citizens in Delhi in hotels and hospitals on or before Holi,” the alert said. As a precautionary measure, staff of every police station in the city has been asked to visit hotels and hospitals in their jurisdiction and check the visitor's lists.
