Indian nurse, son from Kerala killed in Libya bombing, Ministry of External Affairs confirms
Union Minister Sushma Swaraj urged all Indians to move out of conflict zones and said her ministry had issued advisories many times.
The Ministry of External affairs on Saturday confirmed reports that a nurse from Kerala and her 18-month-old son were killed in a bomb attack in Libya's Zawiya city. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted that Sunu Sathyan and her son Pranav were killed on Friday "when a rocket hit their apartment". Swaraj added that her ministry has got in touch with Sathyan's husband Vipin Kumar who, according to reports, survived the attack because he wasn't at home when the blast occurred.
Swaraj also said that there are 26 more Indians employed at the hospital where Sathyan was working, and urged expats to move out of conflict zones. Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that his government was doing its best to bring back other Indians stuck in Libya, as well as the bodies of Sathyan her son.
