Three people were injured in a gurudwara in Germany when a masked person set off an explosion on Saturday evening, reported the Associated Press. One of the injured persons is a priest, according to PTI. The perpetrator fled the scene soon after the blast in the western city of Essen.

Three men were arrested following the explosion. Police said the attack was deliberate, but there were no indications that it was a terror-related. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said the Indian embassy in Germany is taking up the incident with German authorities.

The gurudwara had hosted a wedding earlier in the day, and those injured are believed to be guests who had come to attend the function. One of the three victims is believed to have sustained serious injuries. Essen police spokesperson Lars Lindemann said the explosion was "quite violent" in nature, blowing out several windows.
