I was not ‘formally approached’ to be Incredible India’s brand ambassador, says Amitabh Bachchan
The statement follows reports that the actor's appointment was put on hold after he was named in the Panama Papers leak.
Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan said on Tuesday that he had not been “formally approached” to be the brand ambassador of the central government's Atulya Bharat, or Incredible India, tourism campaign, ANI reported. "So the speculation in the media regarding its discontinuance is not relevant, as far as I am concerned," he said. This follows reports that Bachchan’s appointment as the brand ambassador was put on hold, days after he was implicated in the Panama Papers leak.
It was reported earlier that Bachchan had been brought on board as the new brand ambassador of the Incredible India tourism campaign, along with Priyanka Chopra. This announcement followed reports that Aamir Khan was dropped from being the face of the initiative.
