Trinamool Congress asks Election Commission to prevent broadcasts by Narada News' editor
A sting operation by the news portal in March had shown party members accepting money from a fictitious company.
The Trinamool Congress on Friday asked the Election Commission to stop the media from broadcasting programmes by Narada News chief Mathew Samuel, PTI reported. Narada News had recently released footage from a sting operation showing TMC members accepting cash from a fictitious company.
The TMC’s complaint said since the matter was sub-judice and had also been referred to a Lok Sabha Ethics Committee, no broadcasts by Narada should be allowed. The party came under severe criticism after the tapes were released, but Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had denied all allegations and claimed it was a political conspiracy ahead of the state elections.
