IPL: Delhi Daredevils thump Gujarat Lions by eight wickets
Delhi put in a disciplined bowling performance to restrict Gujarat to 149/7 and chased it down without breaking much sweat.
Delhi Daredevils went to third spot in the table after a crushing eight-wicket victory against the Gujarat Lions at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Tuesday. The Daredevils easily chased down the Lions' 149/7, with 2.4 overs in hand.
A top-order collapse from the Gujarat Lions saw them reduced to 75/4 in the 11th over, before Dinesh Karthik and Ravindra Jadeja stitched together a 52-run partnership. Karthik was dismissed for a 43-ball 53 and Jadeja finished on an unbeaten 26-ball 36, but their final score of 149/7 was an underwhelming one.
Delhi Daredevils were supremely untroubled as their openers Quinton de Kock and Rishabh Pant put on a 115-run partnership. Pant was the aggressor, scoring a fluent 69 off 40 before being dismissed by Jadeja and de Kock followed him, holing out to Dwayne Smith off the bowling of Shivil Kaushik for a 45-ball 46. They had done most of the work though, as JP Duminy and Sanju Samson knocked off the remaining runs to push Delhi up to third spot in the table.
