Sheena Bora was strangled, Indrani Mukerjea's driver says before turning approver in the case
Shyamwar Rai told the court that he was present at the spot when Bora was murdered and could provide crucial evidence.
Indrani Mukerjea's driver and one of the accused in the Sheena Bora murder case has expressed his intention to turn approver in the investigation, reported ANI. Shyamwar Rai said he was present at the spot when Bora was murdered and that he can share crucial information to shed light on the case. "I was a participant in the murder… She was killed by strangulation,” Rai told a Mumbai court on Wednesday, according to The Statesman.
Mukerjea and her media magnate husband Peter are in prison for their involvement in the murder. While Indrani Mukerjea was named as the main accused, the Central Bureau of Investigation later charged Peter with the murder of his stepdaughter, destruction of evidence and criminal conspiracy. Indrani's former husband Sanjeev Khanna is also an accused in the case.
Peter Mukerjea was arrested in November last year. Bora was allegedly strangled in a car in April 2012, before her body was burnt and dumped in a forest in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. However, the case came to light late last year when her body was found. A Mumbai court has extended the custody of both Peter and Indrani Mukerjea.
