Fast bowler Shardul Thakur earned his maiden call-up to the Indian Test squad as the selectors on Monday announced the names of the 17 players who will tour the West Indies in July to play four Tests. The 24-year-old was picked after two solid and consistent domestic seasons. He was Mumbai's highest wicket-taker (41 scalps in 11 matches) in the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy, as the team went on to win the title for the 41st time. Thakur was also the joint-highest wicket-taker from all teams in the 2014-15 season, finishing with 48 scalps.
Pacer Mohammad Shami and leg-spinner Amit Mishra were also included in the squad, which will be led by Virat Kohli.
