Bajrang Dal chief from Ayodhya Mahesh Mishra was arrested on Wednesday night after a video allegedly showing activists of its group training with weapons went viral. A police case was also filed in connection with the video, charging Mishra with spreading communal hatred and hurting religious sentiments, The Indian Express reported. An FIR was also filed against unidentified cadre.

The video showed members of the right wing outfit training with weapons at what was called a “self-defence camp” in Ayodhya. Bajrang Dal members took on men dressed in skull caps and holding weapons to represent terrorists.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shanawaz Hussain has said, “Our security forces are sufficient to fight with terrorists. We have the Narendra Modi government. No one should be worried about it.” Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik also commented on the video, and reportedly said there was nothing wrong in holding self-defence training camps.

Station House Officer, Ayodhya, Rajeev Singh, told The Indian Express, “The investigating officer would approach media houses to obtain the video. We would start the process of identifying people at the event once we receive the video.”
