Sharp hikes in jet fuel and non-subsidised cooking gas prices, consumers brace for impact
In case of aviation turbine fuel, the revised rate will vary from airport to airport depending on taxes imposed in the states concerned.
The government on Wednesday hiked jet fuel price by 9.2% and non-subsidised cooking gas price by Rs 21 per cylinder, reported dna. This is the fourth time that the fuel price has been revised in two months, and the second time that LPG rates have been hiked since May. The hike is based on average international prices, and with oil prices increasing globally, the impact is being passed on to the consumers.
In the case of aviation turbine fuel, the revised rate will vary from airport to airport depending on taxes imposed in the state concerned, owing to differences in local taxes. With jet fuel accounting for 40% of the operating costs of airlines, the increase is likely to hit them hard. However, airline companies have not announced any immediate increase in fares yet.
As far as LPG is concerned, a cylinder of non-subsidised cooking gas in Delhi will now cost Rs 548.50, as against Rs 527.50. Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum review jet fuel and non-subsidised LPG prices on the first day of every month.
