The civil suit filed against Congress President Sonia Gandhi and other state party leaders by a construction firm in Kerala has been settled out of court, ANI reported. Heather Constructions had filed the suit on June 8 over alleged breach of contract and non-payment of dues for the construction of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Development Studies, inaugurated in 2015.

Congress leader RS Surjewala had denied the allegations, saying there was no default on payments or criminality involved. Gandhi had directed the party’s state unit to pay up after the company had sent it a legal notice. The firm filed the civil suit after it failed to receive any money.

The other party leaders included in the complaint in Thiruvananthapuram were former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy, the institute’s chairman Ramesh Chennithala and Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee President VM Sudheeran. KPCC had sanctioned the project and Gandhi had inaugurated it.
