Badminton: Saina Nehwal enters Australian Open finals, Kidambi Srikanth crashes out
Nehwal defeated fourth seed Wang Yihan in straight sets 21-8 21-12.
Saina Nehwal entered the finals of the Australian Open in Sydney on Saturday with a decisive straight sets win over fourth seed Wang Yihan from China in the women's singles semi-finals. Kidambi Srikanath, however, lost in his semi-finals match against Hans-Kristian Vittinghus.
Nehwal was in top form against an opponent she had trouble facing in the past. She easily won the first set 21-8 and went into a strong lead in the second set, never letting up to take the set 21-12 and with it, the match. This was Nehwal's first win against Wang in their last seven matches. She will face Sun Yu in the final and look to win another Australian Open title after her first victory in 2014.
Srikanth put up a good fight against Danish opponent Vittinghus, losing the first set 22-20. However, Vittinghus powered ahead in the second set and won the game 21-13.
