Manchester United legend Paul Scholes to play in India's Premier Futsal league
The 41-year-old is the latest marquee signing for the proposed league, which has previously signed Luis Figo and Deco.
English and Manchester United great Paul Scholes has been announced as a marquee signing in the upcoming Premier Futsal league in India.
The midfielder, who retired in 2013, made 499 appearances for United and scored 107 goals. He was also with the club while they won three English Premier League titles, three FA Cup trophies and the UEFA Champions League twice.
Scholes is the latest big name in the Premier Futsal league, which had earlier signed Portuguese legend Luis Figo along with former Barcelona midfielder Deco. Virat Kohli has been announced as the brand ambassador.
Futsal is a variant of football played between five players on a much smaller field. The Premier Futsal league, however, faces trouble from other quarters as the All India Football Federation has voiced their opposition and warned state associations not to be associated with it.
