At least 11 dead in Madhya Pradesh flash floods
The state has seen very heavy rain in several districts over the last week, and more rain is predicted in isolated areas for the next 24 hours.
At least 11 people have died in floods caused by heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh in the last few days, PTI reported. Parts of the state continue to receive heavy rain, while the Army evacuated people from Satna district. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the level of the Narmada river had reached a dangerous level, and that officials in the state had been instructed to act quickly in case of flooding in news areas.
Local administration also moved people from areas near the Mandakini, Sone, and Tamas rivers. Many areas of the state have received heavy rain in the last 48 hours, and the Meteorological department has forecasted more rain in the region over the next two days. It also issued weather warnings for places over Sagar, Jabalpur, Hoshangabad, Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain and Gwalior divisions.
