The External Affairs Minister took to Twitter to address the issue and said she will speak to Home Minister Rajnath Singh about it.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Sunday took to Twitter and promised to investigate the allegations of racial harassment faced by a Manipuri woman at the the hands of an immigration official at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, reported the Hindustan Times. On Saturday, Monika Khangembam said on Facebook that the official in question asked her to prove her Indianness and subjected her to several offensive questions, including asking her how many states the country has and which states Manipur share its border with.
“I said I was really getting late and he goes like, “aircraft aapko chodke kahi nahi jaa rahi. Aaram se jawab do" [the aircraft isn’t leaving without you. You can answer at ease]," she wrote on the social networking website. Swaraj said though the immigration department does not fall under her control, she will speak to Home Minister Rajnath Singh about the incident.
