The wife and daughter of BK Bansal, a corporate affairs ministry official caught in a bribery case last week, were found hanging in their east Delhi home on Tuesday. They both left separate suicide notes, police said. The bodies of Satya Bala, 58, and Neha, 28, were found in different rooms in the family’s home in Neelkanth Apartment, Madhu Vihar. The police have not yet confirmed whether the suicides were related to the bribery case.
Bansal was arrested on Saturday for taking a bribe of Rs 9 lakh from a Mumbai-based pharmaceutical firm. The company had allegedly approached him to stop an investigation ordered into allegations that they had cheated 24,000 investors of Rs 176 crore, the Hindustan Times reported. Bansal was caught by officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation while taking the bribe. Three others were arrested along with him, and produced before a Delhi court.
