Uttarakhand Assembly passes resolution to seek reservation for the poor among upper castes
Chief Minister Harish Rawat said the state will ask the Centre to make provisions for at least 10% quota in central government jobs.
The Uttarakhand Assembly on Friday passed a resolution to to urge the Centre to reserve a percentage of central government jobs for the economically weak among upper castes, reported PTI. According to Chief Minister Harish Rawat, there is a substantial number of people belonging to upper castes who live in poverty in the state.
The resolution was passed unanimously in the House. Rawat said his government will ask the central leadership to make provisions for at least 10% reservation for the economically backward section in the Congress-ruled state.
