Maruti Suzuki India on Monday posted a 12.7% year-on-year rise in its total sales for the month of July. On the domestic front, the country’s largest carmaker recorded a monthly sale of 1,25,778 units, up by 13.9%, from 1,10,405 units for the same month last year, reported PTI.

The compact cars, including Swift, Estilo, Ritz, Baleno and Dzire models, helped boost the carmaker’s total sales. Powered by Baleno hatchback, which sold 10,000 units during the month, the company’s sales in the section went up by 4.1% to 50,362 units during the period.

Sales of utility vehicles such as Gypsy, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, and Vitara Brezza went up two-folds to 17,382 units from 6,916 units last year. Similarly, sales of mid-sized sedan Ciaz also multiplied two times. As many as 5,162 units were sold during the month. Sale of vans like Omni and Eeco climbed up by 24.1% to 14,748 units.

The company’s new light commercial vehicle Super Carry, which entered markets of Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Ludhiana last month, has sold 14 units. Exports, too, climbed up marginally to 11,338 units from 11,307 units. The only section where the company saw sales dipping was for its mini cars like Alto and WagonR.

According to LiveMint, the 7th Pay Commission, which is set to raise the disposable income of government employees, along with a good monsoon and the upcoming festive season is likely to boost passenger vehicles’ sales in India.
