Kashmir is not an internal matter of India, says Nawaz Sharif
The Pakistan prime minister said the state was witnessing a 'new wave' in its 'freedom movement', as Rajnath Singh arrived in Islamabad.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday reiterated his opinion on Kashmir, saying it is “not an internal matter of India.” Sharif’s comment came as Union Home Mininter Rajnath Singh arrived in Islamabad for the two-day South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation ministerial meet.
Sharif went ahead to say that Kashmir is witnessing a "new wave of freedom movement", as he addressed an envoys’ conference, reported The Indian Express. Earlier, Pakistan had declared slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani a martyr.
The home minister reached Islamabad amid protests by Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salauddin and Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed. Singh is likely to discuss broadly the issue of terrorism at the multi-lateral forum. He is expected to bring up the Pathankot airbase attack during the meet.
