Rio Olympics organisers threaten to cancel Sports Minister Vijay Goel's accreditation
The organisers said they had received multiple reports of unaccredited individuals from the BJP leader's entourage trying to enter accredited areas.
The organisers of the ongoing Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro have threatened to cancel the accreditation of Indian Sports Minister Vijay Goel over reports of unaccredited people in his entourage entering venues and displaying "aggressive and rude" behaviour when stopped.
"We have had multiple reports of your Minister for Sports trying to enter accredited areas at venues with unaccredited individuals," said Sarah Peterson, the Continental Manager for the Rio 2016 Organising Committee, according to PTI. "When the staff try to explain that this is not allowed, they report that the people with the minister have become aggressive and rude and sometimes push past our staff."
Peterson further warned that if such incidents continued, Vijay Goel's accreditation for the event would be cancelled. Goel is currently in Rio to support the Indian contingent and monitor their requirements at the Games Village.
