US Ambassador to India apologises for Shah Rukh Khan being detained by LA airport officials
The actor had tweeted after the incident, which is the third time in the last seven years he has been questioned by the country’s airport authorities.
The United States’ Ambassador to India Richard Verma apologised to actor Shah Rukh Khan over his being briefly detained by Los Angeles immigration authorities on Friday morning. Nisha Desai Biswal, US Department of State’s Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, also apologised for the trouble Khan faced at the airport, adding that even American diplomatics often face "extra screening".
The 50-year-old actor had tweeted expressing his frustration after the incident. He has been detained by US airport authorities earlier too – once in 2012, and also in 2009.
