The Indian pairing of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna defeated Andy Murray and Heather Watson of Great Britain in straight sets 6-4 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles tennis event at the Olympics on Friday.

Mirza was in sparkling form, as the Indians broke Watson's serve twice en route to clinching the first set. In the next set, it was Murray whose serve was broken. Murray, the World No 2 singles player, was playing short of his best, perhaps still feeling the effects from his match at the individual event, which he played earlier in the afternoon.

Mirza and Bopanna will now play the winners of the match between Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram of the United States and the Italian duo of Roberta Vinci and Fabio Fognini.
