Telugu star Junior NTR's fan arrested for stabbing to death actor Pawan Kalyan's fan near Bengaluru
Kalyan, who visited the deceased’s family in Hyderabad, said hero worship should not lead to murder, and demanded severe punishment for the guilty.
A fan of Telugu filmstar Junior NTR has been arrested after he allegedly stabbed and killed a fan of rival actor Pawan Kalyan in Kolar, around 70 km from Bengaluru, on Sunday, reported NDTV. The incident took place when Akshay and Vinod Kumar were having a heated argument over which star was bigger after an organ donation drive.
According to The Hindu, Akshay, Kumar and their friends had gathered at a nearby dhaba for dinner when the two again started arguing and Kumar raised slogans like “Jai Pawan”. This irked Akshay and he allegedly stabbed the 24-year-old engineering student with a knife. Kumar's friends immediately tried to take him to a hospital, but their car met with an accident and Kumar had to be shifted to another vehicle. He died on his way to the hospital.
Actor Kalyan, who has featured in blockbuster films like Tholi Prema, Badri and Khushi, has demanded that the guilty be severely punished. According to The Times of India, Kalyan flew to Tirupati from Hyderabad to meet Kumar’s family and spent an hour with them. He said, “Hero worship by fans should not go to the level of murders.”
Junior NTR, who is the grandson of late actor and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister NT Rama Rao, has not made a statement on the incident yet. Kalyan also happens to be the brother of veteran actor Chiranjeevi.
