The incident took place on Sunday when key accused Abhishek, who is the girl’s neighbour, along with his uncle Vijay, brother Karan and a few others went to the girl’s house in Bhalswa Dairy area and started assaulting her family members. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) Vijay Singh told the Times of India, “We have arrested the three men and registered a case of attempt to murder."

A relative of the 25-year-old said around 20 to 25 men came and started beating them with rods. Gita told ANI, “Four or five of Abhishek's uncles were also there. Abhishek then poured kerosene on her, set her on fire and ran away."

Abhishek had been harassing her for a long time now, reported NDTV. One of her relatives said, "It had been around 10 days since they began troubling her. When she could not tolerate it further, she told her brother, who asked him to stay away from her. The harassment stopped for a few days, but then it started again.”
