Senior AAP leaders in Delhi, Punjab are exploiting women and promising tickets, says party MLA
While Devinder Sehrawat wrote to Arvind Kejriwal about 'debauchery' within the party, its Delhi unit convener Dilip Pandey said he has no proof of his claims.
Senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders are exploiting women in Delhi and Punjab and promising government offices in return, party MLA Devinder Sehrawat alleged on Sunday. In a letter to AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, he wrote, "I saw disturbing reports about women being exploited in Punjab in return for, or on promise of, a ticket...[Another senior member] is doing the same in Delhi...His photos with girls have surfaced regularly," according to The Times of India.
Emphasising that the "debauchery in the party" was becoming "indefensible and disgraceful", the MLA from Bijwasan said he was meeting people in Chandigarh as his voters were "questioning" him about the "serious allegations" that "important post holders" were embroiled in.
AAP, however, has refused to pay heed to Sehrawat's claims, saying they will "not react to baseless allegations". The party's Delhi convener, Dilip Pandey, said, "He has no proof to substantiate these claims...As an MLA, he is aware of the platform within the party where he can place his concerns."
Sehrawat's allegations come at the heels of Delhi's former social welfare minister Sandeep Kumar's arrest for rape. A woman seen with him in the sex tape, which got him suspended from the party, had alleged that he had assaulted her. She said the incident had taken place a year ago, when she had gone to him for help with her ration card. She claimed that he drugged her, took her to a room and assaulted her.
