The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has won the positions of president, vice president and secretary in the Delhi University Students' Union. More than 1.2 lakh students from 51 colleges had cast their votes on Friday to elect their student representatives. The National Students' Union of India, which is the Congress' student wing, won the joint secretary position, ANI reported.

This is the fourth year in a row that the ABVP, which is affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, won key positions in the students' union. There were 17 candidates in the fray for the DUSU polls. Besides the ABVP and NSUI, candidates from the All India Students' Association also contested these elections.

Corrections and clarifications: This story has been edited to remove an error that misstated that the ABVP was the Bharatiya Janata Party's student wing.
