Sunburn Festival likely to change venue from Goa to Mumbai or Delhi: PTI
The organisers are considering other options because the government has decided not to allow any mega event in the state between December 15 and January 15.
The Sunburn Festival 2016 may be held either in Maharashtra or Delhi, if the Goa government does not give its approval for the four-day event starting December 27, PTI reported on Sunday. The promoters of the musical festival said they have kept their options open.
Harinder Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Percept Limited that organises the event said, "We are yet to hear from the Goa government. If they have difficulties, we can shift the venue for a year and then come back seeking their permission next year."
There has been lot of confusion about the venue of the Electronic Dance Music festival, which is touted as Asia’s largest musical event, after Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar said no mega event will be allowed between December 15 and January 15. He said the state government had taken the decision considering the law-and-order problems at such events.
Parulekar, who heads the State Level Permission Committee that grants permission to the December event, said, "The decision is already taken by the SLPC not to allow the EDMs during peak tourist season." Apart from Mumbai and Delhi, places such as Hyderabad, Alibaug, Lavasa, and Pune are also ready to host the festival, said Singh. He added, "The governments in respective places are very supportive.”
