Four men accused in a gangrape case in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh allegedly attacked the woman with acid after she refused to withdraw her complaint, The Indian Express reported on Tuesday. The woman is reportedly undergoing medical treatment at a district hospital for injuries on her face and neck. Her husband alleged that the incident took place within the City Kotwali police station area on Sunday.

The complainant was working with her husband in their field when the accused allegedly accosted them, tied him to a tree and threw acid on her face, ANI reported. Officials said the four accused are missing and that a probe was under way. The woman's husband claimed that his wife was raped on August 9, but the police lodged the First Information Report only on September 2 after a local court directed them to do so. He alleged that the police had initially dismissed the woman's complaint of rape as false.

Three of the accused have been identified as Surjeet, Paramjeet and Veerpal, while the fourth's identity is yet to be ascertained. Bulandshahr Superintendent of Police, Maan Singh, said, "We have registered a complaint against the people who raped her and will provide full protection to victim."
