A 30-year-old woman of Indian origin was found murdered near London's Heathrow airport, PTI reported on Wednesday. Scotland Yard has called on the public to provide any information available about the case. The victim, Pardeep Kaur, was reported missing by a relative last month. Metropolitan Police identified her body last week.

Kaur, a hotel housekeeper, was last seen alive on October 16, the news agency reported. Officials suspect she was strangled by a stranger on her way home from her workplace. Metropolitan Police detective inspector Jamie Stevenson said his team was monitoring CCTV footage to find more clues about the crime.

Stevenson said, "We are yet to find Pardeep's handbag – it was a black shoulder bag – and I would like to hear from anyone who has found a discarded handbag matching that description."

Chief superintendent Colin Wingrove offered his sympathies to the murder victim's family and said that his department has increased patrolling near the scene of the crime. He said, "I can understand why such an unusual crime may cause concern within our community. If you are worried, or have concerns, please talk to our officers."
