In a major bureaucratic reshuffle on Wednesday, Coal Secretary Anil Swarup was appointed School Education Secretary, reported PTI. Susheel Kumar, who was the secretary, Department of Border Management under the Home Ministry, will replace him as the new Coal Secretary.

Raghav Chandra, who took over as the chairman of National Highway Authority of India in August 2015, has now been made secretary for National Commission for Scheduled Tribes. Yudhvir Singh Malik, special secretary in the Niti Aayog, is the new NHAI Chairman.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by the Prime Minister, issued orders for the reshuffle. As many as 19 top bureaucrats have been appointed in various departments.

Sanjeevanee Kutty, who was the special secretary and financial advisor in the Home Ministry, has now been appointed as secretary at the Department of Border Management in place of Susheel Kumar. Sports Ministry Secretary Rajiv Yadav has now been made the secretary in Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, a post that was previously held by Prabhas Kumar Jha. Jha has now been appointed secretary in the Department of Official Languages.

Other new appointments include: Ameising Luikham as secretary in the Minority Affairs Ministry, Seema Bahuguna as secretary in the Department of Public Enterprises, NS Kang as secretary in the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities. Upma Chaudhary as the director of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Rajeev Kapoor as the secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
