Delhi: Police file FIR against woman after video shows her brutally beating her 18-month-old son
Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal approached the authorities after the child’s grandmother brought the case to them.

The Delhi Commission for Women has taken up the case of a woman seen brutally thrashing her 18-month-old son in a video. The incident was caught on a CCTV camera.
DCW Chief Swati Maliwal said the Delhi Police had registered an FIR against the mother. “Working with the police to ensure justice,” she said on Twitter. “Shocked at the brutality of the mother...Her mental condition needs to be investigated.”
The incident was brought to light after the child’s grandmother approached the commission for help two days ago, according to Dainik Bhaskar. The CCTV footage has been handed over to the DCW, which has also procured a protection order for the toddler from the Child Welfare Committee. He is now in his aunt’s custody.
