The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Wednesday announced VK Sasikala’s nephew TTV Dinakaran the party candidate for the upcoming the Radhakrishnan Nagar Assembly by-elections. The decision was taken after a governing council meeting in the party headquarters, reported The Hindu. Dinakaran had been made AIADMK’s Deputy General Secretary after Sasikala was convicted in an illegal wealth case.

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s niece Deepa Jayakumar, who had floated the MGR Amma Deepa Peravai on February 24, has said she will contest in the by-poll too. Jayakumar had said that the MGR Amma Deepa Peravai was currently a “federation” working towards ousting the “traitor group behind the government”.

Dinakaran has declared he will win the by-poll by more than 50,000 votes.

Besides Jayakumar and Dinakaran, Opposition party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has fielded Marudhuganesh for the seat. It remains to be seen if Jayalalithaa loyalist O Panneerselvam, who was ousted from the AIADMK, will stand as an independent candidate.

The by-polls, which were necessitated after the demise of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on December 5 last year, will be held on April 12. The results will be declared on April 15.
