Syria: At least 25 people killed in suicide bomb attack at Damascus court house
This is the second time in the past five days that explosions have been reported from the capital city.
At least 25 people were killed in a suicide bomb attack in a court house in Damascus on Wednesday. The explosion at the Palace of Justice in the Syrian capital left several people injured, reported Reuters.
The explosion took place in the afternoon during busy hours in the court house. The local police said they tried to stop the attacker from entering the premises, but failed. The attacker was wearing a military uniform and had a shotgun and grenades, Damascus police chief Mohammad Kheir Ismail told state news agency Sana. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
This the second time in the past five days that explosions were reported from the city. On Saturday, two suicide bomb attacks left more than 40 people dead, mostly Iraqi Shi’ite pilgrims. It was carried out by an umbrella body of militant outfits.
