A Dacota C-43 or DC-3 aircraft made in 1940 landed in Nagpur on Sunday during its round-the-globe tour. The range of aircraft was used during India-Pakistan war in 1947 and 1965, reported PTI. They were used extensively during World War II as well.

The 36-seater aircraft started its ‘Breitling DC-3 World Tour’ from Geneva on March 9 – its 77th anniversary. Nagpur is the 11th stop in the itinerary of the aircraft, which is on a 55-city tour, sponsored by the Swiss watch company.

The crew comprises pilot Captain Francisco Agullo, co-pilot Paul Bazeley from Britain and Swiss engineer Daniel Meyer, who is also the official photographer of the tour. It flew into India from Pakistan on Sunday night. It was manufactured by Douglas Aircraft Company, which shut shop years ago. Swiss company Aeropassion owns the aircraft now.
