Around 150 militants waiting near LoC in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to infiltrate: Army
Lt General JS Sandhu asked people to cooperate with the security forces to restore peace in the state.
Commander of Srinagar-based 15 Corps, Lt General JS Sandhu on Wednesday said that around 150 militants are waiting near the Line of Control in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to enter Jammu and Kashmir, PTI reported. “There would be some near Poonch-Rajouri areas in the Jammu region,” he added.
Lt Sandhu said that fewer attempts to infiltrate were recorded this year, compared to 2015. “This year, till now, we have been able to stop them [infiltrators],” he said. “We will continue to stop them so that there is no increase in the militancy.” Lt Sandhu added that snowfall might have deterred the militants.
The Army commander urged the people of Kashmir to cooperate with the security forces to bring peace and prosperity in the state where situation is currently “grim”. “I want to assure you that the government forces, security forces and people, all want peace and we are all trying to restore that peace,” he added.
